Do it right this time - History

When the founders of this country decided it was more important to keep all the 13 colonies together instead of forming two countries they compromised on one very big issue, slavery.   At that point, they kicked the issue down the road and it came up about a hundred years later.

So the northern and southern states faced the issue in the civil war a hundred years later.  Now there are some southerners that say the war was over states right and not slavery.  Well, that is simply not true.  Slavery is gone and we still have issues about states rights vs. federal rights.  So I guess the states issue was not the issue in the civil war.

Now in the last few years we have some more historians wanting to rewrite history again in the glory of the Confederacy, we have a fresh crop of modern day racists.  They have forgotten who drained the swamps, planted the tobacco and cotton, who nursed their babies and who were the free sex slaves.  These white men laugh about coon hunting as a sport and their lovely wives sit like brainless models.

Personally, I think it is time to cut the south free.  Let them form their own country, these white folks don't believe in science or education in general.  It is seen in Texas daily. They look backwards instead of toward the future of development of the whole human race.  Their lily white, Anglo Saxon skin is the only ticket that counts.  They hide behind the Christian veil of religion to practice the hatred of blacks, Mexicans, Jews and Catholic and now Muslims. After sharing Christian prayers together in either their mega churches or their little community churches they remind each other about the ways use to be and how it should be that way again.

"Don't remember segregation being that bad."

Haley Barbour is talking about running for president.  He should know a lot about the federal government his state ranks in the top five states most years on Federal Taxes Paid vs. Federal Spending Received by State, 1981-2005 according to Tax Foundation.  These old boys from the south cost too  much money and they hold up the country from progressing into the next century.  Cut them lose.  That Mason Dixie line is a great starting point.

An old piece from the NYT.

This being Mississippi, race is a factor in the campaign, but mainly because neither candidate has offered much to black voters. The Republicans have tried to remind them that in 1964 Mr. Stennis sponsored legislation to export Mississippi blacks to states that wanted to practice integration.
But the racial sensitivity at Barbour headquarters was suggested by an exchange between the candidate and an aide who complained that there would be ''coons'' at a campaign stop at the state fair. Embarrassed that a reporter heard this, Mr. Barbour warned that if the aide persisted in racist remarks, he would be reincarnated as a watermelon and placed at the mercy of blacks.

Cut them lose!  It is time to let them live on their own.  We don't need to support the South.

Planet of Fools

A sane person have to ask, how is it that so many fools, live at this time, on earth?

The president of the US tells the country that the gulf will be made whole again and that 90% of the spill will be stopped.  In what lifetime, is he talking about?  Geologists I heard talk of a shelf and possible collapse of that shelf causing a tsunami.
Another story out of Russia and the EU TIMES
http://www.eutimes.net/2010/05/toxic-oil-spill-rains-warned-could-destroy-north-america/

Everywhere I turn fools are in control.

There are men sitting in Utah at a computer screen dropping missiles on village houses in Afghanistan daily.   Think about the insanity of that.

As allies peel away from the forces supporting our war efforts there is an article on rich mineral deposits in the country.  1985 the Russia documented this information, now we have army advisors assisting the Afghan government about this, a government that has lived off opium and foreign aid.   A world  of fools play these war games and use this opium drug money.

Our supreme court has decreed that any amount of money can be spent by any corporation or union for any election in the United States. What a gathering of fools on the supreme court.  Who are they protecting?  Who do they service?

Those five men that head up the five largest oil companies that testified yesterday in front of congress, any one of them or all five of them will pick our next president, our congress and our local members of the Natural Department of Resources and the local board for zoning .   Our vote, our elections are meaningless except for the profit of corporations.

Do those expensive suits father children?   Do they have ears for song birds or eyes for marine life?  Someone needs to define 'small people'--are they shorter?  ---or less important?  --or less money?

I realize in history there were period of imbalances but never before have human folly destroyed the earth.

Cycles of history, periods of life

I probably belong to the last generation of Americans that will experienced middle class in this country.  Things are changing so rapidly now that the daily news is becoming an exercise in controlled exposure to depression.  How much do I want to learn the facts?

The graft in today's NYT shows the pension obligations of the U.S. and Europe,  the debt balance is 500% of  this nations output for the next forty years.  Hawaii announced today that it needs the tax refunds to operate the state so money will be paid out until August.  Virginia is so broke they are giving out speeding tickets of $2,500 for going 15 miles over the speed limit.  Kansas City, Mo. is closing almost half of its school in one sweep.  I can't even think about the greedy bankers and insurance companies, those sociopaths need a special reincarnation.

For a little less that ten years,  I have been wailing against government policy and the politics of war and waste.  The good news of this awareness is that I had decided to do something about it for myself.  I have a lovely garden with raised beds to grow herbs and vegetables, fruit trees and bushes that are maturing to the point of offering some variety to my diet and physical exercise to maintain it all with out leaving my yard.  The adventure of providing some of our own organic food has giving an opportunity to make friends with like minded people and expanded my interesting in eating wider plant base diet.  With the recent addition of five laying hens, my body gets better nutrition, my mind and spirit get entertainment.

When I was a child and a young adult, the age of 67 seemed to me the point that one would wait around until the death blow to hit.  The importance of experiencing this age is to understand that it is the most interesting age offering a contentment that rarely is felt at an earlier age.  The sameness of routine is just fine, for by this time, I have try out lots of ways, methods and approachs to living and settled on one that is comfortable.   I have been though the stages of life that taught who to trust, who to be impressed by and what values are my own.  I have throw off institutional values, such of religious organizations, found them self serving.  The adoption of a world view of the golden rule serves all of humanity, simply and equally. I have read enough history to know that what we are going though is another cycle turn of history, simple as that.  The final days of another empire.  Sadly, the thing that is different this time, is the human race has done much damage to our nest on this cycle.

snail and their slime

Well, we all woke to the surprise of the new Nobel Peace Prize news including the man that won. I double checked two sites to see if it was true.

Is this America anymore? Do people want their own president to fail, to lose and to be humbled on the world stage? What is in the soul of these snails? The vile comments about this prize are telling of snail slime.

Obama made it clear that the world has to address issues of climate change, terrorism, AIDS, world poverty and peace. He wants corporation between all the nations working together. He is a sign of change in policy from the last eight years. They probably awarded him the prize because he's taken on the most thankless job imaginable. In office 10 months and has already been held accountable for at least 8 years of reckless incompetence.

Maybe there is more slime sickness in this nation and on a day like today it is explored to the light.
